Concept Development

Client: Økolariet, Vejle

This two-week group project for the Multimedia Design program aimed to revitalize visitor engagement at the Økolariet in Vejle. Our task was to conceptualize and design a new, interactive exhibition centered on the captivating theme of 'Spring in the Danish Forest.'

The Challenge & Approach

The primary challenge was to create an experience compelling enough to draw more visitors, as Økolariet's existing exhibitions were underperforming. We focused on strong concept development. I took the lead in guiding the team through intensive brainstorming.

We landed on an immersive room simulating a Danish spring forest. The core interactive element was a large, user-operated turntable transitioning the environment between day and night. This dynamic shift triggered synchronized changes in lighting and ambient soundscapes. To enhance the "night" phase, we incorporated an idea for "night vision" binoculars, allowing guests to discover hidden nocturnal elements.

Project Outcome

We successfully developed and presented a compelling physical prototype of the interactive spring forest concept at a final exhibition booth. The miniature model, complete with a 20-second synchronized light and sound cycle, effectively demonstrated the day-to-night transition and the overall immersive potential of the design. While the subsequent academic documentation proved demanding due to our rapid prototyping focus, the project was a valuable exercise in concept development, practical model-building, and adapting to dynamic team environments.
