Website Re-design

Client: Blommenslyst Camping (Not Representative)

As our inaugural project in the multimedia design program, our team of three undertook the challenge of a complete website redesign for Blommenslyst Camping. The existing site suffered from an outdated design and poor user experience, presenting a clear opportunity for a significant visual and functional overhaul. I took the lead in managing the project, guiding our team through the entire redesign process.

The Challenge & Approach

The primary challenge was transforming Blommenslyst Camping's 90s-era website, plagued by difficult navigation and broken links, into a modern, user-friendly platform. Our approach began with thorough user testing of the existing site to pinpoint key pain points, which included a confusing information structure, an outdated visual style, and an impractical hand-drawn campsite map.

Our design process involved initial brainstorming and rough sketches to restructure the site's functionality. We then developed a style tile to establish a cohesive visual identity before building a high-fidelity interactive prototype in Figma. A crucial step was conducting "think aloud" user tests on our prototype. This iterative feedback loop allowed us to refine the design, addressing issues we hadn't initially foreseen.

Project Outcome

The project culminated in a visually appealing and functionally intuitive prototype of the Blommenslyst Camping website. User feedback on the new design was positive, particularly regarding the improved information architecture and modern aesthetic. We successfully delivered a comprehensive client report and a presentation pitching our redesigned solution, demonstrating a significantly enhanced user experience ready for implementation.
